During my first week of degree course in Automotive Design, my lecturer have asked us to sketch our shoes with the time given by our lecturer. He have given us the time of 20 minutes, 10 minutes, 7 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, and 30 second to sketch 6 shoe sketches with the time given accordingly to show how quickly and accurately we can draw. From the observations of the few drawings it is shown that my line work is not really well as it is quite fuzzy and I tend to press the paper too hard and the line gets too thick. Through this activity given by our lecturer, it is clearly shown that I need to improve on the accuracy of the biro pen and also the softness of my sketch as sometimes my lines get too thick and it makes the sketch looks messy.
Picture above shows the difference between a 20 minute sketch and a 2 minute sketch of the shoe.
On the 20 minute sketching, I was able to achieve a better line work rather than the 2 minute sketch as I had more time to correct the mistakes on the 20 minute drawing by going over the lines again while on the 2 minute sketch I just had enough time to show the silhouette of the shoe rather than the detail but I feel like the line work can be more refined and less thick.
